since his girl was off the road for less than 3 months
he wouldve just had to get the pink

if you get a bluey you dont need to get a pinky. blueys are more powerful than pinkies, because they deal with old old cars off the road for more than three months

you can tell i was caught up in the pokemon card phase cant you

actually i'd just missed it

Blue slip is to get a car thats been off the road for more than 3 months. or for a new car.
Its quite a tough test criteria to make sure cars can actually go on the road.

Pink slips are stuff you get every year, when your rego label runs out.
theyre not as tough, because 'last year' your car shouldve been ok.

AFTER you get a bluey or a pinky

you get a green slip.
this is the Compulsory Third Party payment you pay at any insurance company.
its for personal injuries incase you injur someone.

THEN you decide if you want THIRD party insurance (for other peoples cars)
or COMPREHENSIVE which is for their car and yours,
if youre in the wrong.

in short

blue slip is a piece of paper that gives a car road worthiness if it has been out of rego for more than 3 months. Its a check every nut and bolt and be a ning nong about every little thing possible so as to make it hard to get a beautiful Mini back on the road.
pink slip is a piece of paper that basically makes sure the car is still roadworthy as it passes from one rego period to another. Its a check the brakes, tick a box, dont worry about the fact that this car is a real piece of crap and should be taken OFF the roads sort of thing.
Green slip is a piece of paper which means that if you are driving you are insured for ANOTHER PERSONs personal injury if you are in an accident. You are not covered for theft or anything like that. Its an insurance company/government incentive to make lots of money by increasing the premiums, giving you nothing more and making them compulsory.

Sorry did the sarcasm come through there.

Pink slip is annual rego inspection, carried out by garages. All cars etc over 3 years old.

Blue slip is more or less an RTA inspection- they used to do it themselves but now farm it out to selected garages or workshops. Used for registering unregistered vehicles, also for changes to records when an engine is changed. I've got 2 to do now for this reason..

Greenslip is compulsory 3rd party insurance to cover you for death or injury to other persons. Used to be included in the rego cost once , but now it's farmed out to all the insurance cos.
