Some had British Leyland, some had Leyland Australia.

Early cars i've seen are BL, later are LA, no idea of changing points, know leyland it would have been what ever come out of the parts bin, but im sure others will no more.

I would guess that the change was around late 72 or early 73 but I have no proof.
The company was changing a lot of little details in the run up to the release of the P76.

We did discuss this a few years ago but I can't remember the result.

Hiya,

If I remember correctly from Anton's forum, changeover was either 1/71 or 3/72.

So to answer your question, it should be BL pre 1/72, and LA post 3/72.

Inbetween, I'm not sure! :?

cheers! jon

My 12/71 GT has Brittish Leyland
My 11/72 GT has Leyland Australia

So change over was somewhere in between.

Brenton

They didn't just change the badges, they changed the whole company name.

Looking at some Leyland books and brochures the name on the books is British Leyland till early 72 and then Leyland Australia.
I guess mid 72 is the change point.

I will have to check the magazine advertising....

Of some of mine

12/71 - BL
02/72 - LA

As far as I am able to determine, the change over date was somewere in December 1971, however likely as not they used up what was in the parts bin at the time. This would not have bee restricted to just GTs but all Clubbies in production at that time and other models that used this same badge.

The wife clubby has British Leyland with the sliding headreasts but unfortunately it was reshelled with a Leyland P/A shell and there is no id on it from the original damaged shell

Hiya,

On a side note, I do miss the GT spot.

It was a great site - Anton - set it up again!

Such great technical stuff from all, including Kyoda, Skender, Feral, Miniron, GavinGT, Bubba and Anton - and many more. :(

To get a feel you can use wayback, but it only gives a small sample (for me anyway).

cheers! jon

Big Thanks for that minsta!!!!!!

How I do miss it too, but last time I spoke to Anton about bringing it back, the outlook was not good

According to the GT Spot, the change over from BL to LA badging was 4/72.
