In order to use the rubber side cover seals (instead of cork) I have changed to later side covers. The problem is that the pollution canister thing is touching the bottom radiator hose. Is this normal? Do I need to use a different raiator hose?

It won't hurt it.
You can undo the clamps and move the hose a bit if you are worried.
