Post subject:  Wheel alignment settings
Hi all. I'm getting a 4 wheel alignment done next Wednesday (Pedders - Hoppers crossing) after putting in adjustable tie rods, adjustable lower camber arms along with adjustable toe and camber brackets on the rear.

I'm running 10" wheels with A-008's, it has hydrolastic with H/D rear bump stops at rear and shocks on the front. What settings should I be aiming for; most mileage is done on freeways and suburban black top, with the occasional (well sometimes more often!) spirited fling around corners?

Reading other post would the following be OK?

Front
Toe 1/16" out total
Camber -1 to -1.5
Caster +3

Rear
1/16" - 1/8" toe in
camber 0 to -0.5

Also has anyone had experience with Pedders at Hoppers, they are quoting a minimum of $135+?

ur bill will come to 2,400 they will charge u for a new clutch, new muffler and maybe a diff seal, watch them, pedders have been busted doing lots of shifty stuff

LOL. I see a theme developing here... I guess I should look elsewhere? Any suggestions from locals?

I was a bit worried when they said that they need the car for at least 2-3 hours, and it was best if I didn't wait. I can understand a waiting/on-looking customer can be a pain in the ass.

Would be a nice trip, but I think the tyres would be scrubbed out by then! :)

The gorilla at local Pedders tightened the outer rear trailing arms pins after adjusting the camber and stretched the threads :shock: , both sides, both throw aways . . . Never been back.

Take it to Stuckey's Tyre Service on Sydney Rd in Brunswick, talk to Jeff. They've done my car twice, and they know what they're doing.. I went in and told them what settings I wanted on it, and they got it spot on. Cost me $65 about a year ago.

By the way, that's identical to my setup. I'm running -1º camber at the front, 0º at the rear.. toe-in standard, and whatever castor it took to get it tracking straight at the front (my subframe has copped a hit some time in the past, so I have asymmetrical castor to go in a straight line).

Thanks for that. Do Stuckeys sell A008' as I might get two new ones for the front and the 4 wheel alignment as well? :)

They sold me mine when they were rather hard to come by. Apparently stock was being drawn down globally as Yokohama changed the construction (or something) to pass updated drive-by-noise regs in Europe. Or something like that.

Give them a call, if the tyres can be bought they can get them.

Setup depends on the use. For me it is driving, often long distances on modern highways....

So not more than 1.0 deg. negative all round, standard toe out up front (applying power will pull wheels in line), zero toe at rear...yes they can go to toe-out (without alteration) when spirited driving is on but that's OK.

Caster 3-4 deg. - the greater, the more self-centering.

By all means find an alignment shop that you can work with and trust.

Thanks all for your advice and replies. Have spoken (edit: to Jeff) and booked into Stuckeys for this Wednesday.:)

Been quoted $85 for alignment, and $135 fitted and balanced for the A-008s that have to come from Sydney. 8)

Heh.. that's more for the alignment than me, but less for the tyres :lol: Nice one 8)
