Post subject:  Cool Tools
I recently bought a set of Kinchrome stubby gear spanners, I used them when changing the uni joints and fitting new inlet/exhaust manifolds and they are absolutely brilliant. The gear drive is great for nylock nuts and the stubby size means you can fit them in some really small spaces. Highly recommended!

I got a set of Sidchrome ratchet spanners recently and have to say the concept is bl**dy brilliant, don't know how i lived with out them.

your uni joints, are they hardy spicers? I reckon this is where I would love a ratchet spanner to fit the most..

I'm planning on making a set of these my next purchase. Sidchrome or perhaps the TTI equivalents. I've got a 1/2 inch hinged TTI gear spanner I picked up individually last year. Very nice..

Hmm...maybe I'll take a turn on Santas lap tomorrow. We'll see what comes up :lol:

I have that set, doesn't fit on the hardie spicers, but great in most other places :)

I LOVE TOOLS!

Yes I've had my Craftsman USA set for years, very very handy. So handy I bought another set of Sidchrome ones too!

I also got sick and tired of crappy screwdrivers so I splurged out on a set of kinchromes, very nice screwdrivers! The shafts are hexagonal so you can use a spanner on them

I have the normal length ratchet spanners - what a great invention, although in truth it's probably more to do with modern manufacturing allowing a cost effective ratchet mechanism in each spanner.

I bought a 19mm one for the front upper arms (from memory, in that area anyway) and it made a tedious job a much more enjoyable.

Stubby ones are on my shopping list now though.

what are the kincrome ones worth?

i've got a set of normal length ratchet ringies in a dirt cheap dodgy brand and i love them, but they're metric from my mazda days... might look into a set imperial stubbies for the mini...

gotta add i LOVE my palm ratchet these days too.

Just make sure the number of teeth/resolution is fine. If it's too course and you have to move it in a very confined space, then it defeats the purpose.

I've got a set each of imperial and metric El-Cheapo stubby ring-open-enders that i brought from a swap meet and they certainly make a sh!t job on a mini a lot easier , but having a set of ratchet stubbies would be just the duck's nuts, pity they weren't around 20 years ago.

Nips the bolts up quick and then lean on them with the right tool once you have it up pretty tight..

I wonder if they are as 'stubby' as my 'stubby' repco set (non ratchet).
