Hi Guys,

This thing has me guessing,, I just can't get bluey's engine to idle correctly..

Its a BRAND NEW ENGINE, not even run in yet,, and I just can't keep the idle down without it wanting to conk out. The car has had about 3hrs running time so far

I'm running a 45 Dellorto, with jets that have been sorted correctly by Doc on here, who's running the same setup.. I know the jets are fine, as the plugs are running correctly.

The 2 inner plugs are perfect, the outter two, are very wet with fuel. EDIT: TAKEN FOR ANOTHER RUN, AND THEY ALL 4 ARE PERFECT NOW, not black, not wet, but nice and clean, and that crispy browny colour..

The thing has to idle at 2 - 2.5k otherwise its just BYE BYE.. and I have fiddled with the idle jet screws, and just makes it no better, i just have to lift the idle, or lower it

First i thought it was an air leak, but the way it is happening is strange..

If you turn the idle adjustment screw half a turn it will die, but then if you turn the screw, half of that turn you took back, it revs bak up really high, then you turn it back even more past the first point and not straight away will it die but eventually... (and the acclerater cable is not sticky) holding it back, ive checked all that,, its something else, and its got me bassled....

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thankyou guys.

After a whole day fiddling, FINALLY, and I mean finally only just now has it been diagnosed and fixed.

A BIG thankyou goes to 2 members on here, that are GOD's when it comes to Mini's and tuning

I'm sure they know who they are, but I can't thank you enough..

Bluey has tired the hell out of me today, im covered in fuel, carby cleaner, oil and grease, and shes gone through a full tank of fuel today just in the numerous testing it took to get it right.

Me off to have some dinner and then drive home for Christmas at last :)
