Post subject: | Replacement Panels |
Hi All, Just wanted to get an idea of which replacement panels are easier to work with. I thing I may have to replace the A panels on my 61, and maybe a few others as well. I'm going to have a good look over the old girl at Christmas and figure out what I need. So far it's probably A panels and maybe the door skins. Looks like the doors may have opened a bit too far at some stage. Ian |

reckon the easiest panel to replace would be: 1. Rear beaver panel 2. Battery box 3. A-panels from here it gets harder (apart from bolt on panels Ive taken these pales off and they were not too difficult, so putting them on wouldnt be too hard. I have replaced a-panels as well (outer) it wasnt too difficult, just trying to line the bolt holes up ans the curve and trying to the seams together a bbit fiddly, but worth having ago at. Thats about af far as my replacements have gone soo far Brenton |

just replaced a front lower guard.... pretty simple and i was a complete beginner in welding .. Try and practice some welding on the old panel before you jump into replacing it cause you'll blow holes everywhere if you don't.... I have a boot floor to do but thats looking to go in the two hard basket.. reckon ill just do patching jobs in the boot....... Cheers Hoba |

If you want an as straight forward job as possible it is probably worth buying genuine panels instead of cheapy's. I bought all after market panels for my rebuild and they are not perfect so a bit of extra time and stuffing around is needed when fitting them. The other thing I noticed with the cheaper panels is the corners of the forming are not as sharp as the original car so I will need to use some filler to get the edges of some panels to a radius they should be. |
