any one running it?? or know about it i really would like some help to get this going. its all wired up & starts on it but something is not right as it is running rough. |

is your wheel aligned vs the sensor correctly at TDC? have you put a timing light on it to see if the megajolt is ACTUALLY advancing the timing? does is make a difference if you unplug the megajolt unit while running/driving? (the EDIS4 will operate in a limp home mode at static advance when the megajolt is disconnected) have you tried any fault finding yet? |

i give up. on it dude. it's frustrating me. getting power the trigger wheel is on the correct way. does not look to be TDC but it is put on the proper way. could be timing no idea how to check & don;t have a timing light & bad time of year to get it done. it will start but runs like crap, wont start just on the edis. Ie bens instructions to sit TDC totally lost. i might just use a pulsar dizzy instead at least if i cant tune it right some one can. i have gone as far as my knowledge takes me with it & i cant get it to work. ![]() |

can you turn the engine over so #1 cylinder is at TDC. This can be done by inspecting the markings on the flywheel, or by removing the spark plug, inserting a screwdriver or other long straight thing into the hole, and watching when the screwdriver reaches the top of the engine stroke. When #1 cylinder is at TDC, the VR sensor should be over the 9th tooth away from the missing tooth. I had issues with this. My toothed wheel attached to the harmonic balancer, but not all balancers are the same so mine was out by one tooth and ran crap. Other things to note: Have you used the correct sheilded cable where required? Have you used high current rated wiring for the coil connections? Have you connected spark plug leads in correct order? Could you draw a quick diagram of how you have wired everything up? Cheers. |

Thanks tim. The wire harness is from uk and is a kit. The trigger wheel is ben kit and bracket. Mine sits more to the left then the centre of the teeth. I think it is not sitting right as it won't run right with the mega jolt Won't start in Limp mode either. Never set timing but you're way seems easy as i dont own A timing light. Everything in my mind points to the sensor. |

i don't think its the sensor if it runs with the MJ box connected. even if it don't run well. any chance you can try if you get a spark with the MJ disconnected? maybe you have a faulty edis module. no way of testing it, just try an other one. if it won't start im limp mode and run with the fix 10° it will never run right. maybe you can borrow a timing light somewhere |

maybe you can borrow a timing light somewhere if his wheel is out of alignment (which does happen with Ben's kit), it wont run right in limp home mode or with MJ plugged in. When Ben designed his kit, he was of the belief that the two holes in the harmonic balancer were all in the same position, therefore it always lines up correctly. this is NOT the case. My wheel was more than one tooth out, others could be more than that. But yes, could be a faulty EDIS. Where did you EDIS come from Nick? Was it a tested unit from the USA, or one you took out of a vehicle and is untested? It could also be a fault coil pack. here is a pic of how mine was when installed. tooth 9 is meant to be where tooth 8 was, so it was all 10 degrees out. I had to modify the sensor bracket by drilling new/slotting existing holes. ![]() cheers. tim. |

ok thanks for all the help. The edis unit come in a kit wire harness also so proper wires etc, i made sure i had proper ground & constant power. first problem sorted the coil pack blew! ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us i have a new one & it starts now. i think i do have a spare Edis i can test. now it seems to work but i think the timing & tdc is my problem & tooth position. i can hook it up to the laptop i even did a diagnostic run where it logs driving data and that worked as well, just to play picks up speed also. the thing runs like crap if i start with with the mega jolt it sounds like it's on 3 cylinders and there is no way i can drive it, if i try run it in limp mode it will not start. |

Its also a bitch to check the timing, the air con is in the way, and my timing light wouldnt fit down far enough to check the timing. |

i can get in there pretty easy im looking over it now i don't have a timing light but can you find tdc by looking at the rocker assembly? just looking over the teeth etc. |

The rockers are operated by the camshaft so its not the easiest way to do it. Just take number 1 spark plug out, get a screwdriver and put it into the cylinder. Then turn the motor over slowly, being careful not to get the screwdriver jammed in there whilst you feel where the piston is. When you think the piston is at the top go a bit further then come back and you should be able to feel where tdc really is. |

Finding TDC at the piston is still a it inaccurate. The piston is moving slowly at the top and what you think is TDC may be 5° either way. The best thing to do is find the mark on the flywheel and then add some marks on the bottom pulley and the timing cover. It does not need to be a good mark, it just needs to be something that tells what you need to know. |

right so i have what seems to be TDC or very very close. my trigger wheel is in the right spot or around about i can see the tooth & bracket does not line up, it's pointing between tooth 8 & 9. so there is the problem. |

there is some offset in the software which allows you to adjust this misalignment.. i cant recall how much you can adjust via software, maybe 8 degress? |
