Hi all,

I've got a mate rebuilding a 997 Cooper for a another mate. Does anyone have some good quality engine bay pics to use as a reference?

Thanks,

Evan

Aren't they both S engines GT? The booster seems to be a giveaway in the first (although the thermostat looks close to the rocker cover like a small engine would be, but I can see an extra stud on the other end?)

And the other pic is plainly a 1275 with the extra studs.

I love the period pics however...

They were both marked as Cooper, I didn't actually look but have now.

The first is 997 Cooper but the 2nd one appears to be 1071 S

Then the fitting of a booster is an astute choice!

I seem to recall that these were an option in the UK but will stand to be corrected on that.

If you do look at the thermostat housing i) the angle of the studs shows that it is a small bore head and ii) no temp sender hole in the head

...and the sender was in a 202 head, on a 997.

In a 202 head, yes, but there where early ones (not sure of the number) that didn't.

<EDIT> bit difficult to see (I'll find a better pic) but here's an early 997

No hole for the sender - not a 202 head.

[waits for Graham in aus to chip in] I've never seen one without a sender in the head, my mate bought one of the very first ones sold here.
