Hi all, I have a couple of questions regarding dizzies.....to go into an A+ 1275 and was hoping someone on the forum can help:

1. I recently bought a lucas electronic dizzy from the UK. Its from a late model mini (maybe metro) and has a two-wire 9EM module strapped on its side. The only numbers I have on the dizzy body are AUU1536 2005 and on the next line, 42664A 01980. Anyway, the module has a 3mm white wire and a smaller diameter white wire with black trace. Does anyone know where the wires connect for sure?

2. Will it be expecting a ballast resistor in the ignition circuit?

3. The electronic dizzy has a vacuum advance. I currently run twin 1.25" SU's and I think (but not sure)  that the norm was to run these without vacuum advances. Certainly the A+ dissy I had in the box of engine bits had its vacuum removed when the engine was rebuilt and twin su's put on.....I assumed it was in keeping with OEM. Is keeping the vacuum advance likely to cause me any timing/advance issues?

Vacuum advance is primarily a fuel-efficiency thing.. if you want that, hook it up otherwise you can live without it

Good advice - as long as you're happy to pay up to 30% more for fuel.....

If running a big cam, the vac will do SFA for economy. Not enough vac to work the advance properly...
Funny how BL binned it here in ~1975- they went to 43D dizzys without the feature. On both 998 and 1275.
