My Moneypit is getting closer to getting a RWC and registered. I want full rego, not club and was wondering who provides the most realistic insurance cover.

I swear I tried a search but I got lot

What do you reckon, who is the best? This car owes me a buch and I want realistic cover.

Shannons. Combine your house/daily and get a multi policy discount.

Its like a broken record I suppose3, but Shannons are still pretty competitive.

$220 gives me full comprehensive on a club plate resto agreed value of 35k. Suits me fine.

Mick, did you have to supply any evidence of condition etc?

NRMA Vintage and Veteran were cheaper for me than Shannons. I'm in Sydney and car is now on club plates but was originally on full NSW rego

They asked for a picture of the car. They suggested a value, I upped my expectation and they asked for a photograph or two on an email.

They had no qualms once they had a look at the images.

I was originally with NRMA classic, but changed to Shannons as they were cheaper at the time and also my preferred repairer wouldnt touch NRMA work at the time. Havent compared prices in a long time though. Car is on full rego but its a limted use policy- somehting like 8000klms per year and not used as a daily driver

I recently went through the comparisons and found my Shannons policy came in a bit dearer than what I could get elsewhere but in talking with them they were able to drop the premium to a reasonable level.

I then decided to pay a bit more to ensure good coverage in light of the flooding insurance debacle. I also have house and contents with them and as they are Suncorp backed I would have been fully covered.

Sometimes more than price is important

Steve

Got a quote off
NRMA Veteran Vintage & Classic - 1973 mini s
Proposed sum insured $ 10000 (Agreed Sum Insured may be subject to photos)
Premium Annual Payment $189.05 ( Includes government charges)
The maximum limit for travel under this policy is 9,000 km's per year.
Agreed Value
Cover for theft, malicious damage, accidental damage, storm, hail, flood or fire
Repairer of Choice
Retention of salvage (where applicable)
Travellers Care Benefits (where applicable)

Was very surprised, make sure you get a quote off the vintage and classic and not the normal nrma. This was with all my add on's disc brakes, different motor, twin tanks, larger wheels etc.

Thanks all. You have been very helpful.

My criteria is getting the highest possible $ cover as the Moneypit is just that.

It will not be a daily so under 5,000 kms would be about right per annum. Have got an immobiliser and gps tracking so I think that should help.

Again, thanks all; I do love this forum.

LSV were way cheaper than Shannons & would cover the cars for more value, but shop around yourself.

Hey Doogie just curious have you ever had a claim with LSV? Just want to know how they are with claims.

I'd give this a go, you put in how much you want to insure it for.
https://www.nrma.com.au/car-insurance/veteran-vintage-classic/forms/quote-request.shtml

Nrma were going to let me insure my 6yo xr6 ute for $37k for not much more compared to my standard policy. (it's worth $14k in reality)
