Post subject:  Rear Seat Types

Hey guys, Im trying to fit a cover over my rear seat from huddersfield spares (the cover that is) and I just can't seem to get it to fit right, I believe I have two different types from a clubby, one with a hump in the middle and one without.
Am i just trying to get it to fit on the wrong seat or is there a trick to it.
How many different seat styles are there?

On Oz Clubbies there are really only 2 shapes, the humpy one and the straight.
There were quite a few patterns though.
I would not expect a UK made cover to fit either one properly. These Oz seats were all made here, not imported.

But the rear seats would be the same wouldnt they. I mean in Aus you can put an 850 seat into a 78 1275Ls if you wanted to (i think), so why wouldnt an english seat cover fit an australian seat?? Given that our 850's and theres are the same (pretty much).

Al the dimentions would be the same wouldnt they?

The english didnt get the humpy rear seat did they?

The car body shape in the rear is the same (as UK Mk1 anyway) but there is no reason to think the front shape of the seat, height, thickness and cushion padding is identical. Our front seats weren't the same, either.
No the UK never got the humpy seat, that was only done for our funny rear seatbelt mountings.

The trim for all the Oz made BMC cars (mini/1100/1800, etc) was locally designed/made, so often does not match the UK stuff.

Often the UK Mk1 stuff is the closest, but even then not always a match :?

cheers

well I was able to get it to fit.
Just took a lot of stretching and the original cover off, looks like they are pretty similar after all, it just seems like maybe the uk backs are a touch higher as I had a lot more material to fold over. Ill post some pics tomnorrow.
