In regards to removal of the set-up, does the inlet manifold need to be blocked up where the air hoses connect in the two places?

Does removing the pump and set-up affect anything else?

I'm just tinkering and thinking about the whole thing at the moment.

Yes it does need to be blocked. The small connection can just be squeezed shut, plug the big one.
The only thing air pump removal will do is liberate another pony or two to do meaningful work.

And probably increase the power to weight ratio significantly after jettisoning the weight of a boat anchor

Ok.

So what do I do with the Gulp Valve?

Does it matter if its taken off?

Take it off and plug the hole.
All the plumbing on the front of head can be removed, the threads in the head are 7/16 UNF. I used grub screws. Another easy and cheap method is screw old seat belt bolts in, and then cut them off flush with an angle grinder.

OK now Im clear on it all now.

Thankyou very much.

I took the pump, belt, hoses and the injection pipes on the head off. Just wasn't sure about the Gulp Valve. Now I am

With the injection system designed in conjunction with leaded petrol, when I took the injection pipes off ALL four of them were fully blocked with dirt and hard crud and in no way what so ever could be possibly be injecting air anyway, even though it was already doing nothing if it was unblocked..............

There is no legal requirement to keep the ADR27a pollution gear anymore.

ADR27a was repealed and in theory no longer exists. You can't comply to something that doesn't exist.

Yeah exactly, it was doing nothing anyway.

Yeah I love how the system was supposed to "burn un-burnt hydrocarbons" in the exhaust, but it always looked like just dilution of the exhaust to me!

The environmental scientists I've worked with in the past have always reckoned "dilution is not the solution" so no wonder it was repealed.

cheers

Don't chuck it out though
It may be of use to someone doing an original restoration
