Hi guys and girls,

Am about to embark on this for the first time tomorrow, on some bits for my dad's boat tralier, but also are going to do some of my mini bits while at it..

I've watched some clips on you tube, but I'm sure I've seen some much better ideas and setups that people have done on here... I was sure I saw a thread some time back.. I can't find it anywhere on the search bar...

Would anyone know or have powers to get to it// find it??

THANKYOU!!

Hi Lockie91,

Tried this couple of months ago, I do remember reading over the thread you are referring to.

This is the pic of the set up I tried. Worked ok, didn't really leave it long enough. Just long enough to loosen up the hinges so I could disassemble and clean up.

I think it really depends on how well you set up the diode, probably should take about 6 hr's. A bit of baking soda gets things started.

Yeah, just trying to get things sorted b4 i attempt it..

Some say you can have the negative terminal in the water, some say you can't...???

Did you just suspend the hinges with that wire or?

I use a similar tank setup for zinc plating.
I have 2 bits of plastic rod above the tank with the parts and the zinc block hanging on copper wires.
But for derusting, steel wires will do. use a bit of S/S rod as the anode.
