Positive or negative earth? I am trying to work out the wiring (or whats left of it)in my Mini matic which has been fitted with a 1275 engine and a generator, however never been a goer. It is the MK 11 body shape. The numbers are YMA2S4, Body number 2483 and engine number 99H119/H328. Would anyone know so I can look for the correct wiring diagram to suit the car. Cheers. |

If the wiring that there is to suit a Generator it would have been Positive Earth. By Body Number, yours is an Early MKI Auto and so would have originally been fitted with a Generator (and been positive Earth). |

These days it is better to change it to Negative earth. Positive earth is a long gone system. Not many Electrical accessories are available for Positive earth systems. Generators will work either way Pos or Neg earth as long as you know how to polarize the system so you don't cause any Smoke ups.. |
