Mine is almost exactly the same as yours and yes mine has a 1098 crank to make it a 1098
I have put in a #7 or you could put in a CP4

Why are you using twin HS6's on an 1100 ?

Sell them or put them on the shelf and just stay with a single H4 or HS4 with a No 7 fixed needle .

Its all about air velocity , single 1 1/2 big tick , twin 1 3/4 two thumbs down .

If you had an 1100 bored 100 thou, had a 12G295 machined down to give you ,say, 11:1 compression and was using a good wide range cam like a Wade 240 I,d say maybe you could achieve a good stoichiometric ratio with twin HS6's

.

Haha sorry, it technically was a twin, its now a single, I just always refer to carb's in plural.

Gaf, yours is an HS4.

Seifer's is an HS6, it has a .100" main jet.
I'd try an AO6 (fixed needle) or BDL (swing needle).

what is the difference between fixed and swing? Ive always dealt with motorcycle carbs so these SU's are a bit new to me.

Originally all SUs had the needle fixed in the piston by a screw.
The jet needed to be aligned with it or the piston would stick.

Later they invented the `swing' needle, it sits in a spring clip, sort of similar to a bike one.
Piston doesn't jam, but the needle can wear the side of the jet in as little as 20,000km. But of course nobody replaces them then.. they wait until it's running so rich it sounds like an old chaffcutter.

Personally I prefer fixed needles, probably because I'm an old fart.

Cool, so which one is preferential then, if i get the swinger do I need to pick up anything else to get it moving?

Most HS6 came with fixed needle. I believe you can modify them to take a swing needle but I've not done it.

Opps I read that wrong..On my other Mini..Much the same except runs the RE13 cam and .60thou over with a HIF44 Carb (1/34 Carb but the float bowl is under the carb rather than external) has been using a BDL Needle for some time now. I would try this needle or the AO6 as Dr has mentioned as a starting point and put it on a Mini Friendly Dyno to get it spot on & tuned up

Hey Doc,
Im just following up on this now, I can't find anything on an AO6, only OA6, are they the same or a typo or is it not listed on the SU midel website?

Thanks
