I'm hoping there's someone on here with a genuine Police specification Clubman GT (SPO28) or late 1970/71 Mk II S (SPO41) that still has the original distributor. If so, could you tell me what model, date and other markings are stamped on it? If you know someone who has such a car could you please pass on this request. |

Hi Mate, I have a ex cop cooper s, 70 or 71, that was one of the last 112 cooper s's of the line and is fitted with clubman style door handles. I reackon I can find the dizzy and get the model, I imagine it would be close to the kit they used on yours too, I'll dig it up and let you know |

Did you end up confirming the exact identity of your Cooper S? |

Just to clear up any confusion, what Winabbey is looking for is the identity markings (i.e. Lucas serial number, AYG number and date) on an original distributor from an ex police Clubman GT and the same for the distributor from a late Mk2 Cooper S police vehicle. If your car is a late Mk2 Cooper S there is a reasonable chance it may at one time have been in police service. John |

AYG 0175 5-70 cheers, bam Thanks bam - that's in line with what I'd expect. Now we need to see what a later Police spec MK II S has. |

Thanks low'n blown. Did it have a white paint dot? GT, early ones had a white dot and the rest had an AYG272 dizzy (see thread below). http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=67912 But I've yet to see an AYG272 in the flesh (ah, I mean in the metal), hence the reason for asking this question. An ex-Police MK II S with lift-up door handles should have this dizzy. Who has one? P.S. I think it's Lynx. |

Your right, thanks for that on Lynx (oldtimers ![]() I just went looking for that dissy in the SPO28 parts list. There is no distributor listed, so from that, the stock AYG0175 would have been fitted, according to the parts book. Also Special Tuning also say to use this distributor (well the UK one with the same curve) with the Cam that was fitted to the SPO28. Mind you, the Parts book also lists the head as being 12G1805, which is a stock GT & Late Cooper S head. The heads fitted to the SPO28 were modified, so I don't think that part number is truely applicable. Not wishing to undermine you, however are you sure that different dissys were fitted to SPO28? What Cams / heads were fitted to the Cooper S Cop Cars? |

Folklore back then had it that the Police cam was a 731. But I've also heard since that Wade did some... I'd be interested in what is said on the build sheet. |
