Whenever questions like this come up and I'm interested in the answer I'll do a Google search. If you search on 'wey alloy rocker cover' the very first hit that appears is an Australian Holden forum that says the WE is for Waggott Engineering (Merv Waggott) and the Y may be for Yarraville or Yagoona, the suburb where Waggott was located. Quite a few Holden forums also have a hit but after looking for 5 minutes or so there was no confirmation of the origin, just speculation. Continued searching would perhaps provide something.

Cam, what's the origin of that one at the back in your pic? They are still pretty common- even I've got one.

I think they were as common as contessas back in the day... my mum had one on here bugeye sprite!

Also found this one in another box'o'bits, its a little different as the rubber grommets sit ontop of the cover itself, not recesses like the others!

There was someone in Sydney casting them up for the A-series from mid 50s.
I will flick through some magazines...

No, I mean a foundry casting them for people like Lynx, Waggott, Kleining, Oxenford, etc to sell.

I thought Lynx had a foundry way back then, a mate used to work at Lynx.

Maybe they did!
I know there was someone at Kingsgrove doing a lot of castings for racing people. I can't think of the name, Wellworthy Castings?
