Post subject: | Mechanical OIL TEMPERATURE guage... where to buy??? |
I am looking to purchase one of the classic looking OIL TEMPERATURE guages to match the Oil pressure and Water temp gauges i already have. The thing is, these things are hideously expensive. Does anyone have knowledge of the cheapest source for these bad boys? I was planning to take advantage of the strong aussie dollar but the cheapest source i've found is local... at $149 + extra for the adaptor, it's pretty rich. ![]() http://www.minisport.com.au/prod1493.htm Note : It has to have a face and bezel like this one. ![]() |

This fella : http://stores.ebay.co.uk/the-gauge-shop Often has bargains going but you need to keep an eye on his stock. He may also have what you're after but not listed on the site. As for price, well, I haven't found any of that style/age that were "cheap". cheers, Jacob |

That sounds about the average price for a gauge nowadays. Mechanical ones are a specialist thing now so unless you want to go electric you'll have to foot the bill. |

Whats the advantage of mechanical over electric, aren't you just asking for oil in your cabin with a mechanical? |

With a mechanical temperature gauge, there's no engine oil in the line. Just ether. |

Its an oil temp gauge, not a pressure gauge, no oil in cabin. - never had a problem with oil in cabin anyway, only cars with poorly fitted gauges & crappy oil fittings & cheap plastic hose leak, all my cars have had the original 'S' gauges & piping and have never given trouble. A mechanical gauge in this instance is more accurate, elec gauges can be affected with voltage drop etc and may give a false reading. |

Interesting to note the new car trend seems to be towards less gauges these days eg latest Subaru models now have no water temp gauge, I believe. Mokes, as we know, only came with a fuel gauge. What goes around, comes around..................... ![]() |
