Would anyone have any photo's of an original front seats for an early 61, as we would like to match the style of the cover.

61 850s had different seat frames & mounted on to the box section differently, the style of the trim remained basicly the same for later 850s but the vinyl pattern changed.

Another 61...

later type vinyl...

64 model 850s had the paterned vinyl carry over to the front of the seat, as seen on the RH seat in this photo.

Thanks for info, Should have thought to ask this question 3 days ago. As we do have 62 seats that we should have copied which are closer. We have just now copied 63/64.
See photo below. Seats we have made, (yes we know they are the wrong colour)

Now we need to ask if there is anyone that has any early 61 seat frames that you would like to part with.

The very early 850s used this lizard skin style vinyl.
There was a set of early front seats for sale on Ebay recently. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0wt_947Not sure if they sold. Might be worth trying to contact the seller.

I need them for my 850 restoration when I can get to it.
All I need to find now is to find some lizards to make some new vinyl !!!

Great pictures willy!

I thought that the 850's in Aus started in 61 with the Fleck (as per 850mans red seat) then the Lizards skin 61-63 then the diagonal stripe 63-64?

Where's Sports850 lately, he's got the register! :P

Graham,
I had a `61 850 back in 1964 and it had lizard skin, on the Pommy tube frame seats.. :x
I rate these as the most uncomfortable seats ever to grace a Mini.. I couldn't wait to be rid of them back in the 60s!

[edit] in hindsight I think it was fleck, not lizard...

I've got these: supposedly 1963.

Note there isn't any piping around the front, the seam is at the sides.

Mounts are riveted and not adjustable:

850man got any idea whether these are original or not?

Most of the original 850 seats I have seen had the rivited mounts, I cant remember seeing 850 seats that are hight adjustable, unless someone has removed the rivits & fitted the later brackets.

Doc, I cant recall ever seeing Lizard skin on tube leg frames?

I have however seen Fleck on tubes and later bracketed legs? Infact I have a set in a Auralean (Spl?) car.

I am looking for some tube frame seats if anyone has them!

Cheers

Graham :P

My bad Graham, after looking at these pics more I now think it was green fleck.

Very Nice Ryan, your car?

Grey fleck with tube chassis seats and 'Morris' style door kick plates too!

Early 'Morris' cars in UK had those black plates, and Austins got the anodised silver ones, the silver ones later became the standard.

Thanks for sharing! :P
