Post subject:  GT spot? whens it coming back

does any one know if the GT spot will ever come back online or when it will. I joined up about 2 months before it went AWOL, no warning or anything. I presume anton still got all the threads and posts saved away, if not what a waste. I know a few of you on here were on there so maybe you know more than i do. i think anton is a member on here JAM rings a bell. But i havnt seen him post while ive been on here.

Cheers Steve

I'm interested as well.
Also is there any update on Gavin Agnew's NZ GT site?

Saddly folks, GT spot ain't coming back. Anton has well and truely moved on from Minis.

Gavin had a break in a few years back and his PC got stolen. He had it backed up and I understand he is (slowly) working on bringing his site back. Maybe he couldjump on here and give us an update?

What about all the excellent historical GT information that clearly came from lots of painstaking research by Anton (and others?). Is that now lost to the Mini enthusiast community forever? So much of the BMC/Leyland factory records were binned or otherwise destroyed over the years. It's important that those who have the time, knowedge and desire to research and compile the Australian history of this fascinating little car continue their work so future generations of enthusiasts have knowledge that would otherwise just disappear. That's why I'm getting so involved in the Police Mini history. A lot of the information is in people's heads and those people are getting older.

It's really sad that all that Clubman GT data now appears to be gone. :( I, for one, would consider contributing to the sponsorship of a Clubman GT website like the GT Spot. Does Anton still have the source data?

Hi

As I have said before I would be willing to take the bit bwetween my teeth and resurrect the site if Anton was willing to pass on the information.

Does Anton read this?

Cheers
Steve

Why do my messages just disappear sometimes?

Anyway in the message above, there was a link to the wayback machine web archive, where the GT spot is archived up intil August 2008. I won't try to link it, you'll have to copy and paste it.

Some of the forum stuff is there, but there were about 15 or so Internet pages that had a heap of good detailed info on the GT, ie, what to look for if buying. There was also 3 Wheels Magazine articles of an extended road test (10 000 miles I think).
