just don't cut the front end off it, weld on a roundy front, and put a dog ugly body kit on it!

Hey guys and girls, new to the forum. i have just purchased my first mini as a fun little project. first tried to buy a 74 model but just missed out and was very disapointed, luckily a few weeks ago i was able to pick up a 78 1275 LS. i dont know much about mini's in general but im here to learn, especially things that make mini fans cringe and big No No's when it comes to restoring these cars. The car itself is it pretty good nick, engine runs and all parts included bar the grill. She will undergo a full restoration either to original or something abit different, still undecided. Any help and all opinions are welcomed, Cheers. |

Welome Goose, We all love to see pics, so pop some up in the members mini gallery. Instructions can be found here http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10405 My opinion for the restoration would be to go original. 1275LS's were pretty rare to begin with (only 1000 made) and are getting a bit thin on the ground. There is a 1275LS register on here, so check if your car is on there. Ryan |

The 1275LS is a fairly rare beast, so most mini enthusiasts don't like to see them drastically altered, although most a modified in some respect to suit their owners tastes. The grill might be hard to find. Good luck with the project! |

The car was originally nugget gold judging by the engine bay, the rest of it has been striped back. what i had in mind isnt anything over the top. was going to flare it to fit wider rims , put a cage in and supercharge it. black and white paint scheme, looks and sounds great in my head. will be a month or so before i begin as i still have to finish another project. will continue researching until then and checking out all your cars for some cool ideas. Thanks for the replies guys =) Welcome Goose, but a word of warning. What you see as not over the top (as described above) is sacrilege to many on here (including me). Ultimately it is your car and you can do what you want, but as I have said on here before, if you want to do this stuff start with a model that isn't rare. Once you do all these mods it is no longer a 1275LS (except by the plate) it is now a Goose special. Cheers Steve |

Go for it, just make sure you keep the bits you take off it so you can replace them if necessary. No point spending big $$$s (at least 10-15 grand for what you've got planned) for a car that your not 100% happy with. |
