Does the nut on the bottom of the SU carby affect only idle mixture, or does it affect mixture right across the rev range?

Yep, the mixture nut changes the mixture throughout the rev range.

The idle screw changes the amount of mixture allowed through at idle - changing the idle screw won't affect the rest of the range.

Correction; The idle screw adjusts the idle speed, not the mixture. Only the mixture nut changes the mixture. :roll:

That's why I said the amount of mixture. More air/fuel mixture in at idle = more idle speed.
