Well, I've run out of broadband this month and for some reason ever since I've been speed limited by Optus I can't view any of the pics in the Member's Gallery etc.

I can see the avatar's but no pics.

Anybody help? I hate reading all the posts and being able to see the pics, it's killing me!

I'm not even getting the image little crosses you usually get. I have tried refreshing the screen but absolutely nothing. Usually if an image doesn't show there is a little cross but not now.

The shaping they have applied to you acount just means that everything is going to happen so much slower until your next billing month starts again.

what is happening is the text appears becasue it does not take up much bandwidth. The Avartars are light by design [remember the 100x100 pixal rule means these pix are small] other pix ont he page do not have this limitation and can be quite large especially collectively if there are several on the one page.

The solution:

1. Be patient and wait longer - a lot longer for the full page to download over the slower link

2. upgrade your bandwidth limit amount on your account

I had the same situation last month and when i checked with the ISP they had changed their plans format and there was one with more download available for a cheaper price than I was paying so was a win win, less money and more Gigs per month.

I have already upgraded my account for an extra $10 a month I get 1gb instead of 400mb download.

Unfortunately I have to wait till my next billing cycle until if comes into effect.

I have just got a job from home whereby I log onto a website and enter data so needless to say this has used up my download this month.

Thanks for the help and I guess if I want to see something bad enough I will just have to wait .... wait... and wait somemore.

Thanks for your quite reponses guys, what would I do without ausmini.

I'm cleaning up the office at the moment so guess I can do that in between waiting for the pics to appear.

The avatars are permanently (until deleted) on your computer, they aren't loading as they are already there. If you have recently changed any anti-virus settings to block out banners, that cut's out ausmini photos (does for me).
If there is no little box, but there is enough of a gap in that post for a photo then it is loading, but must be incredibly slow.
Try other websites and see what happens.

Just had a nother think about it while waiting for the pics to appear in the Member's Gallery post.

When the posts come up and while I'm waiting for the pics (if they were slow) wouldn't I still get the image place holders.

It comes up saying the page is "Done" and doesn't seem to be loading anything.

Yeah it is one thing I don't think any of us are too good at - being patient. especially after enjoying the convenience of BB for a while.

I got caught out on a 8Gig monthly limit so it is all relative, I upped mine to 15Gig so that should last a while [he says knowingly - NOT! ]

Hope you dont have too long to waith till your new billing cycle starts again Jan.

Good Luck
Dat

Just tried another site and yes it's slow but I still get the image place holders telling me that there is a pic there.

I don't get them at all on ausmini.

If it get's too frustrating, change the billing time. I've done it before.
If it's only a week I wouldn't worry about it, if it's 27 days, stick it out.

I got mine changed within 15 minutes - after they change the details in the ISP system all I needed to do was disconnect the BB router and force it to get another IP address from the ISP pool - bingo - on new plan details

Edit: Oh and some sweet talking to the operator to make sure they entered the changed details in their end immediately

OK now I'm getting annoyed.

I rang Optus three times in the one day trying to get them up upgrade my plan before my next billing cycle. They said that the system isn't capable of doing that.

I have to wait till the 10th May. Thing is I explained that I now can't do my job (which I only started two weeks ago) and they didn't care one little bit.

Anybody done this on Optus before.

Harley, are you telling me I can ring them up and change the date that I get billed for my internet service?

Surely they would have done this if it was possible!

That happened when I first got the net. I used all the allowable downloads in 3 weeks instead of a month, so I changed the billing for the next month to start the next day, and upgraded the amount. I wasn't worried about the missind 10 days of so.

I'm with Bigpond.

I did ask them if they could do anything at all to allow me to still do my job and they just kept saying that the system wasn't capable. I'm going to ring them right now :!:

I wouldn't use Optus or Big Pond for a bet. The value for money is just not there. These days you can get 1.5kbs and 12 gig for 49.95 (iii net) which the majors won't go anywhere near. They realise that the average punter will get P'd off with their deals, hence theirf insistence on long contracts. The best place to compare all DSL deals is here
http://www.whirlpool.net.au/
It has all the rates and all the info that anyone ever needs.
