Hi there,

I don't know if there is already pictures of A+ crankshafts but i thought some people might like to see close up of what the rolled radius looks like on the journals. This was done to stress relieve the transition area known to be a problem in earlier cranks as HP rose during Rover years.
This particular crank was out of mid 80's A+ Metro Turbo.

This crank has also been balanced, wedged and polished. The oil galleries have also been generously radiused for improved oil flow to the bearings.

This crank was ground by Action Crank's, Bob Lee.
Very happy to recommend Bob, he has decades of experience in motorsport, speedway,drags,V8s, also minis.
I did the cleanup and polishing and GR did the wedge and balance.

That rolled radius does make a huge difference to the strength of the crank. Anything with a step, or sharp conner or edge is a potential weak spot (a place for it to start cracking from).. by putting a decent radius in there it makes it infinitely stronger.

If you look at all the modern perfomance Jap stuff, thier cranks will have a similar radius.

I agree PK. Very nice looking crank.
However if you're going to stroke a crank by offset grinding, the rolled fillet one is not I would use to begin with, as the rolled fillet will 3/4 disappear when the crankpins are offset ground.
