450 because they were out of the big ones. They do get a surprise at work when I hook the jumper leads from the Morris up to the trucks on cold days. |

Could you tell us more about calcium batteries and where the better places are to get them and how much they cost? The VE Commodores run Calcium batteries, I go on some of the Commodore forums and it appears if you run the calcium batteries flat they need a special charger to bring them back up, a normal lead acid battery charger will not fully charge them, so I am not sure how your normal alternator would go bringing a flat calcium battery back to full charge, from memory on what I have read on the other forums is that they have had to have their flat batteries recharged at the dealer on the calcium charger to get them back to full charge. A lot of the VE V8's have been having trouble with flat batteries. A bit of info about chargers on the link below. http://www.projecta.com.au/communicatio ... d=20&cid=3 |

![]() I purchased a New 550CCA Battery from a Spark Friend for the Van but the poles were around the wrong way..but I worked around it. Then Morris had a Cell Die, so he got that Battery and the poles were rite. Felt funny purchasing a Battery from Big W after checking out all the normal places but they had what I wanted as per Dr and the poles were correct and cheaper than the so call Auto Shops |

Could you tell us more about calcium batteries and where the better places are to get them and how much they cost?I get them from my mate who is a mechanic, the battery rep keeps him stocked. I think they're about $120 (but that may be at cost to me). I have one in the brick, and one in the subaru. It's a plain black battery, brand is "Rocket", made by Global and Yuasa Battery Co. I've never had to charge one, so wouldn't know if they have an issue being charged from dead flat - I do silly things like drive the brick up the driveway using the starter motor, spend ages turning the engine over with the starter when playing with ignition etc. etc. It hasn't been used since November but I guarantee when I go to start my engine after I've rebuilt it, it'll still be fully charged... |
