looking at buying a morris 1100,what can i use from it on my mini ?

but let me tell you that they are a very charming little car. I would not sell mine.

I agree, they are a good little car and becoming very rare on the roads.

Just remember if you use the M1100 engine in your mini that it will have a 4.1 or 4.2 diff in it, great for pulling out tree stumps but a bit too revvy once you get some speed up, with 10' wheels.
The diff housing/gear selector housing is different to a mini, you will need to use the remote housing off the M1100 or change the diff cover to a mini type, then you can use the std mini remote housing.
The front engine plate is different, it will fit in a mini but its nice to change to the mini type, or you can cut the M1100 plate extra mounts off.
The M1100 radiator is different, much larger than the mini, you can use the bigger one or fit the mini type, along with its lower bracket. :wink:

I think what 850man is trying to say is the same as me... just use the engine, put your gearbox under it, but don't expect the engine to last long.

or buy it, fix it up a bit and sell it to adamstuart and put the profit into your engine rebuild

Ok I am one of the ones who would shout,

"Please don't wreck a going 1100!!"

But having said that, if you buy it, it's your car to do with as you please!

The switches & ignition key also suit earlier minis pre-leyland rockers (u can always sell them if they don't suit).

If you get it and pull the engine, there's a few of us 1100-lovers out there who may want to buy bits off it, more $$$ for your rebuild ;) Just don't send the lot the crusher straight away!

I went to look at a $99 1100S once, it was in a paddock after being used as a paddock basher but the kids had grown out of it.

As I arrived, another guy came in after me, I wandered down to it with the owner, and he trailed along. I verified that it had a 1275 and did the deal.

As I walked back up to my car he sidled up next to me and said "how much for the rest of it" - that motor cost me $60 :lol:

it was a nice straight little car, I think I saw it driving around shortly afterwards

to all the 1100 lovers out there, i wont be trashing a good car.

the body is full of rust,interior is stuffed & the driver side suspension has collapsed.

1100 lovers would still be cursing you, they're all crazy

hey! I know where there is a good 1100S with a nice interior, but no engine - you could make one 1100 out of the two :lol:
