Post subject: | Tachometer help |
Hi, just wanna hook up a digital tachometer to a swift gti (mk1) mini. The tacho has 3 wires, power(red), ground (black) and signal (green). I think the green one goes to the "-" of the coil and the red one goes to the power at the back of the key switch When I turn the key clockwise, the ignition light and oil light is on. Once I press the button on the floor, the minis engine starts. This is the back of my key switch ![]() A.) This is on the driver's side. Always 12v B and C.) 0v initially. After I turned the key clockwise, B & C then becomes 12v. If I press the engine start button on the floor, they are always 12v (and more). If no ignition, no engine start and everything is off, these goes back to 0v So does that mean I should hook the red wire up to either B or C? or is there a better way to do it? to hook it up to the main control, etc???? Thanks heaps. |

connect via the fuse box - fused switched 12v - green wires |

A picture may help a lot...thanks no, that's not what I mean Get your power from the fuse box. The standard Lucas wire colour for a fused switched 12v power is green. |

![]() ![]() yep, I realised that cos you said it in your first post... it may or may not have green wires for fused ignition, but there's still going to be a fuse box ![]() |
