I cannot find a date on the headrest ADR, and i would like the run cobra lowbacks in my 77clubby.

Does my 77' need to have seats with headrests attached?
Is there a way around it if so?
Is it unadvisable to use lowbacks anyway?
What are the penalties for disregarding ADRs?

Yes you will need a high-backed/headrest seat.
I think this came in as an ADR in 1973?
Headrests save broken necks and backs, in the event of being rear ended.
Would you want to put low backs in and heighten your risk of having a broken neck?
-- Would you remove the airbag steering wheel and airbag seats in a current Commodore, just cos?
I don't know if there are fines associated, but Police would most likely defect the vehicle.

I appreciate your hasty response in regards to the ADR's.

If you have an accident you wont be covered for any medical if your car is found to be unroadworthy by not meeting the ADRs.

please note you are also responsible for the safety of your passenger. If your car doesn't meet ADRs and you have a passenger in a lowback who suffers neck/spinal injuries, well, you wont sound so cocky then.

So, it isn't really just you and your car.

In a 77 model it must have headrests and anti-tip forward restraint. This will probably start an arguement (though that is NOT the intention) but you will also need engineering approval since they are not a factory seat and they have no 'blanket' approval. I don't make these Rules, maybe take it up with those who do.

I think some people just ask questions but they do not want the answer that the questions really deserves. As they don't need or want any one's opinion after all. So my question is why do something that is not correct to the car's ADRs and broadcast it on here too?

ADRs aside: You can buy cobra classic style bucket seats with head rest. I actually think the cobra cub seats are quite attractive even with head rests.

But to be honest, on a clubman I'd go for full reclining set...

I was considering the lowbacks with the headrest, but the headrest really looks like an afterthought.
The full reclining ones are nice as well, but seem very modern..

I assume you got yours from revolution racegear?
Do you have one of each kind to sit in and try?
