This is a long shot, I know. I would like to have the Monaco towed down to Goulburn. Is anyone who owns a trailer and just going for a look Saturday & Sunday interested in towing it down for me? Arrangements to be discussed. Thanks, John. |

In the old days they called them TRAILER SAILERS--Have fun, drive it no matter what. If they break you fix them --if they don,t ,you arrive with a HUGE SMILE. |

It's the trip that's the adventure, not the destination! (But would always be nice to have someone in a modern car with the trailer following! ![]() |

Don't worry, I've had plenty of trips and fun. This time I would just like to tow it. John. |

Hi Mick, Did get a price on a rental trailer. Just changed jobs, gave back my company car. In the meantime I am using my old BMW 525i and will buy an old tray top cab chassis to finish carting all my bits & pieces from Sydney. Once done with the tray top, I would like to buy my own trailer, But also need to buy a tow car too. I would buy any now if they are the "right "price Tray top around $5K Mini size tilt trailer Commodore or Falcon sedan. 6 or 8 up to $15K depending on make or model & extras. John. |

Hmmm is the 525i too weak in the rear to tow??? Buy that Mini sized Trailer, fit a towing hitch, and buy a tarp, forget the tray top and bring your Buckle down to Wakefield and move your stuff using Mini trailer covered by tarp! ![]() ![]() |

Chris, Thanks for the offer for a tow car from your yard. I've had a quick look at what you have. I have a friend who is a wholesaler. Usually we just buy something at the dealer auctions. Hey Mick, When was the last time you drove a 525? It can't even run out of sight on a dark night!!Seriously, that car has had it's day, I don't want to spend any more money on it or kill it by towing with it. John. |

Geez JC, it was just an idea...people have towed cars with a lot less power than that...you just have to be patient ![]() |

I towed my Mini with my Moke once - that was fun! I don't think I would get away with doing it a second time. Just thought I'd add that. I look forward to seeing you again John - it has been a while. Maybe mention the fact that the Buckle is one of the cars that will be in the Mighty Minis Parades. People love to help celebrities! By the way, tickets should be in the post tomorrow (Wed 2nd) but certainly by Friday. Cheers, Watto. |

Thanks Watto, I won't need to mention the Buckle will be in the parade lap, You've just done that for me. ![]() I noticed a thread on tow cars a while ago and there was a moke towing a Mini also. ![]() In the early 70's I used to tow my prod touring XU1 race car with an AP5 Valiant ute. 225ci 3 sp manual with 290,000 miles on the clock. Best described as "well worn", and used to jam in nuetral when changing from 1st to 2nd. Quite often I would stay in 2nd when aproaching traffic lights hoping not having to stop, and then slip the clutch to get through before the lights changed again. Sometimes only used to make it halfway across the road when the lights turned orange, and I still had the trailer to get through. Then there was the time I thought it would be a good idea to race the car at Surfers Paradise. Took so long to get there, and in the end never even took the car off the trailer. And we still had to get home. John. |

Ditto I don't think I have ever seen the mighty Buckle mobile...just at static displays like MDU... BTW what was the name of the Resturant in Leichhardt John...the upstairs, down the back of the block off the main street...you knew the family??? I might be taking a lady out for some Italian and I want to impress her!! ![]() |
