Most people will run the biggest CCA battery that will fit in the hole. I used to look at the Ford Falcon/Fairlane V8 in the battery book.

You want + to the left (with a neg earth car) so the 2 terminals are away from the RH tank (if you have one)?

I run an Exide X56D 550 CCA in my 1310 , i also run the same battery in my Rodeo 4WD ute, and the same battery in my ski boat which runs a 351 Ford Windsor engine .
I can swap the batteries around if need be , ie; i will sometimes put the boat battery in my ute to charge it up if it has sat for an extended time without use .
So far i have not had any trouble with them and they are all now about 3 yr old .

They have a 3 yr warranty , and from memory i think i paid $ 168.00 for each of them
from Big W .

I had an Exide 550CCA but it started to die from old age then got a leak under the lid.
So I'm now running a Lion 580CCA. 2 year warranty & I got a 20% seniors discount. :P

I'm running the same in my 998, recently put it in after the old supercrap battery from the PO would give up after just a couple of days parked :(

it's a snug fit but it could pull the car up the hill :)
