Bought these two 1275's today, one thin flange small journal crank /s rods, one thick flange large jnl / chunky rods. Untouched since bmc electronically tested them. Stored for 25 years by a farmer who at one stage had about 20 morris 1100s and 3 minis.
A few questions: diff ratio for 1100 S? 4.1?
What are the gear ratios like?
Can you fit the 1100 rad in a mini? It looks slightly longer?

Just looked on the 1100 website. 12yd h xxxx Both have the same prefix.
So 1275, manual remote 4.1 diff standard ratio, high comp.
What was the "high compression" 9.75 to 1?

Diff would be good for hillclimbs!
How does the gbox no tell us it's 3 synchro?

All the Morris 1100S came with the 3 syncro box.
The "D" in the engine number shows the 4.1 diff.
The "H" compression ratio is 8.6:1

Thanks, so can the Gbox case be used for 4 synchro gearset?

Also will the small journal crank fit straight in the block with the large jnl crank? Do you you have to muck around with adjusting thrust washer clearances?

Cranks swap easy, no funny thrust washers needed.
Sorry, no can fit 4 synchro gearset into 3 synchro box. Find a 4 synchro remote one... Mini K, early Clubby, Mk2 S.

I have an 1100S engoing and gearbox in MS Plum - all dropped straight in including the radiator.

Have recently changed the diff ratio to a 3.1 as the 1100S diff whilst very quick off the mark maxed out at about 90kph

theoretically :D

I have a small journal 1100S crank in a large journal block and there is -.002" clearance with standard thrusts (IE they wouldn't go in at all) - I had to take .004" off BOTH SIDES to get .006" end float

I've got a small journal 1100S here that somebody wore the thrust face of the crank a fair bit.
They then reground it, and MADE a new pair of thick, solid bronze thrust washers to suit. Excellent job too... 8)

Will obviously check it out thrusts when need be, but its good to know what to look for.

The thin flange 1100 S block is probably stong enough anyway as it has no sidecovers? So could just leave it in that block.

Never has sooo many options! I like it!

Just looking at options like stroker crnk etc.

What cam was in the 1100 S. Is it 3/8 lobe ?

Std cam in 1100S was 1/2" lobes, spider drive.
Timing & lift is same as Morris 1100 I think- 5/45-51/21. Good, once you regrind them to something that gives power. 8)

Great , so many useable parts in em! And they should all be in good cond too. Will see when i get time to pull one down - dam Mini 50! Sooo many things to do........

The pistons must have a considerable dish in them if the high compression motor was 8.6 to 1. What was the Low comp ? 5 to 1!

There was no low compression option.
