Post subject:  Hi Los

Hi Guys, while I have got my 78 Leyland off the road, would now be the time to put Hi Los on it. I don`t know much about them but have heard much talk on them on this site. Could the guru`s on here perhaps explain to me the advantage of Hi los and what do they replace. A picture would be great if possible.

Thanks, Jethro

Have changed out the old trumpets on my mini put Hi Los with not too much trouble. Set aside an afternoon & some beers ... B easy as.
Advantages would be adjustable ride height also new knuckles (which sit in the control arm) reduce that common squeaky noise worn ones produce.

Fiji is spot on, grease it all up while apart & put new rubbers in if you can.

will make a world of difference when back together & new bump stops.

Search, there is lots of info already
e.g. http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=67069

In a nutshell, yes now would be a good time to fit them.
You can adjust the height of each corner individually to balance the car properly, and take up any wear of the rubber cones.
They replace the original trumpets.

Personally I'd put in adjustable suspension at the same time, i.e. rear camber/toe brackets, adjustable lower arms and tie rods. Height is only one factor and since you're down there, love...

Looking in a Gregorys service and repair manual, when you say replace the trumpets with the Hi Los, is that the struts ???
