Hi guys,

I have been monitoring my revs at idle over the last few months, and it tends to vary quite substantially, due to obvious factors such as:
Temperature
Humidity
Fuel source
Engine temp
etc etc.

However I have noticed that my revs at idle tend to range from as low as 500rpm (where the engine feels like its about to cut out), up to about 1200 rpm. Sometimes I think its related to a new batch of fuel etc, but also I use the lead replacement additive, maybe thats not mixing in as much as I'd like, and getting a more rich lead replacement additive mixture after refills?

Has anyone else noticed this, has anyone resolved these sorts of problems?
Engine is 1310 twin 1.25 SU's.
Any other theories on the main culprit for idle variations?

Cheers
Jonesy

Air pressure has a big effect on idle speed. I used to tune cars in the mountains and when I drove to Sydney the motor would be racing.

Worn throttle spindles?

Also, if you have a vented type oil filler cap, have you replaced it? The Service Book actually recommends replacing it every 12 000 miles.

Dip stick not sealing?

Manifold / vacuum leak?
