My boss tells me today that one of his relatives in Bathurst has a shed full of old run down cars including a mini. Naturally i tell him to get on the phone and find out more and, yes, its a Cooper S and, no, he doesn't want to sell it.

I have sat a meter away from him for 4 years and have just been told this now...

I'll just have to keep on it i guess..

Yep can be very frustating. When I was younger, my uncle and auntie divorced. In the rush to separate from each other he sold their Cooper S race-car for just 3-4k. To this day I wonder what could have been had I been a little older and been able to buy it.

Mate,

Just keep on and on and on.......one day that car will be sold, and if you are known to be a mini fanatic, then you may get a chance........"good things come to those who wait"

Good luck!!!!! (and show us the pics when you buy it!!!!!)

:D

Don't you hate it when you do finally weaken and sell a rare car to a young enthusiast it never lasts longer than six weeks before being rolled or wrapped around a light pole.

My father once owned a 1971 dodge phoenix - body number 2. In other words, the first car off the production line (number 1 was the prototype).

He leant the car to his sister, and she drove down to melbourne (from sydney) when the gearbox packed it in. So it was sold for about $500 I think. Be worth a little more than that now.

back when i used to build lambrettas i used to get old guys dangling carrots infront of my face all the time in the way of offering me old scooters that had sat for 20 years with no one interested in them. suddenly when i showed interest nearly every time they would back out of sale. once someone else is interested in their old junk they think they dont wanna let go. its annoying really but its pretty standard stuff ha ha

you would do well to keep on this bloke but dont hold your breath unless you want to drop big money man cause once guys like that know you want it they get more determined to be greedy, petty jerks.
