I bet it was several 1275s.

If you go to movie world on the goldcoast there is a replica of it!

I heard rumours that the engine sound was recorded from another mini, a motorbike and some other car. Is this true? I wouldn't be suprised considering this is the type of production work I will be doing for a living.

Love that movie - ESPECIALLY that scene.
We tried to get that shown at our drive-in night. Unfortunately they'd only let us pick one out of two so we had to pick the Italian Job naturally. :?

Sounds like a great job. :D. It wouldnt surprise me if they didnt mix a bit more into it. A director I sometimes work with did a german WWII short film and managed to source a really really old mercedes. They recorded true sound and when played back sounded like a whipper sniper or something they replaced it with a generic sound file of a 63 porche. The real sound just seemed that unrealistic. A good link for how they made that sound etc is http://www.filmsound.org I recommend to my students this one as it opens up a whole new world.

Cheers
