Hi everyone,

been a little while since i have been on the forum, have been a little busy with work

finally got a chance to pop my head under the car tonight to look at the clunking noise in the left front that i had heard when i last drove the car some months ago.

this is what i found
Image

i did notice when i fitted the shocks that they were not perfectly aligned vertically, but as the last shocks were still ok i didnt think this was a major concern. should i replace them with these?

or the upgraded version?

has anyone come across this before? i am sure someone has.

Did you fit them with the big washers?

Problem doesn't look like the bolt.

the bolt is much shorter than it should be. the bolt is not the origonal bolt, it was fitted by the previous owner and it doesnt look like the right one.

because it is shorter, i couldnt use the large washer on the outside, so the bush has pulled through as the lateral forces on the shock have pushed it out.

as far as i can tell, if i fit the right bolt, i can then use the washer and with the right length fitted the problem wont be there.

am i correct?

You do need to fit the socks up with washers both sides of the rubber bushes and if it needs a longer bolt to get them in there, then yes, you need the right bolts. Karcraft have original kits, Bolt, 2 washers, spacer and a nyloc nut. About 8 bucks from memory.

BTW, the original bolt is 3/8UNF x 4 1/2", Grade 5.
