Yesterday I was in the Brisbane City Mitre10 store - most of the sales people know me by sight (what else is there to do in you lunch break?) -anyway one of the older guys says to me "You're the guy that's restoring a Mini aren't you? Will you be in sometime in the next week - I'm retiring next week and I have something for you" _ "I'll be in tomorrow as I didn't check the size of the bit I needed"

Today I was in the store and he presents me with a NOS Ryco screw on oil filter Z82 labelled for Leyland Mini, Moke 1975-81

Thats the go! Makes it all worth while :)

Nice when people give a gesture like that, there are still decent people about.

Same thing happened to me about 12 months ago, an older gent used to walk his dog past my place fairly regular, i'd be doing something in the shed and when i'd see him i'd give him a wave. Well one day he spotted me working on my mini, so a few days later he dropped in and gave me a NOS cartridge type oil filter that he'd had for years and thought i could do with it.
We are now both members of our local car club ,and it turns out he has very good motoring history with cars, he currently owns an open wheel type Clubman 2 seater , that he rips around in.

I had something similar happen.

I worked for 2 months for a bloke and when he learned i was into minis he dug out and gave me a 'highway' brand new clutch kit :)

Little things like that make us happy.

No never owned a Mini - had it for 15-20 years after his son gave it to him who also never had a Mini but doesn't know why he had it even.

When I was going through my' first' mini phase I had to work at a servo to support the habit. One day a old lady came in with a present for me... material with racing mini's on them. My dear old Mum made them into curtains and I put them on the side windows or my '68 van. They complimented the spray canned flames nicely......
