my roundie has got clubbie rear lights...

i got some orange led globes for the indicators, thinking they'd stand out a bit more...

turns out the globe holders only want to accept a twin filament globe ie a regular 21/5 brake light globe...

did the clubbie tail lights work as reverse in orange with the main filament for indicator and the small filament for reverse? or has someone jammed brake globe holders into the indicator spot?

All the clubby tail lights I have come across have the twin filament globe in the indicator. You are correct that one is for indication and the other is for reverse.

I figure you could get a couple of old globes and convert them to LED (I think you can buy boards from Jaycar or you can make your own...) or you could modify the housing and rig up some diodes (and possibly resistors if you want the reverse lights a bit dimmer) so they will work for indicators and reverse.

I believe the Australian Clubbys got the dual filament holders for indicators and reverse but the UK version got the single filament ones (like mine because I got brand new ones from the UK last Year and was suprised when the dual filament globes wouldn't fit).

The UK cars got a clear lens and reverse lamp from 1976. (Orange/Red/Clear) as opposed to Orange on top and red on the botom for our clubbys.

You can order either type through minispares in the UK.

Tony B might have some as well.

Actually, they are a 21 / 21 Watt, with similat base and offset pins just like the brake / tail bulb. A bit hard to get these days.

Yeah, a bit of a bummer, but easily overcome with a couple of diodes. I have seen in recent times two types from the UK, one has spade fittings like the originals and the others had wires, which type did you get?
