can someone please post me a good pic of leads coming out of the distributor and which cylinders they lead to.

Starting at 2 o'clock on the dizzy & going anticlockwise
1-3-4-2
with 1 being the radiator end.

And if it is not in the right spot don't, what ever you do, don't try to remove the distributor drive and drop it into the sump.

There is no real need to remove it if it has been fitted wrong.
Just stick the leads where they need to be and not where they are supposed to be and it will all work perfectly.

A couple of yers back i wrote a very long treatise on how to set up the timing on a mini. It was from the distributor drive, getting top dead center, aligning the distributor and the n positioning the leads.

I dont have the band width (flakey satellite internet) to search for it but if someone else can it may help here. It certainly mentions the ways to avoid dropping the drive into the sump.
