Hey all this is my first post sorry if it's in the wrong section, I just bought a 71 clubby for my wife and it came with 4 original Mamba wheels and we are thinking about selling them. Any thoughts on what they might be worth.

But Clean them up and enjoy them..they are a brilliant wheel and most of want them

Welcome Dan, i have a set of Mambas on my car, and personnally , i think they are one of the best looking period style mags around, ( my opinion only ). Enjoy your car, put whatever wheels that you like on it, but depending on the condition of the Mambas, they can bring fairly good money.

Thanks for all your replies, they look like they are the 10 by 5's, i hadn't really thought about what to replace them with. When we bought the car we got told that they might be worth something to the right person so we have been considering the sale to cover the cost of a possible hydro to dry conversion. Nice car Mr moke, very nice.

Just wondering why you want to convert from hydro to dry :?:

There have been a couple of people on here lately that have talked about doing this. The replies are always the same, don't :!: :!:

Hydro is by far better for a road car.

Ill back Steve on this also... You will be making two mistakes here..Getting rid of the Mamba and also converting from Wet to Dry. My wifes daily is Hydro and my Van I have been building for the last 6 years is Dry. With the short time I have driven my van I will be converting it to Hydro. Do yourself a favour and get behind the wheel of a Dry suspention. You will keep Hydro

Thanks for the advice, the only reason i was thinking along those lines was because being new to minis i am following advice of others and as you know everyone has a opinion, my hydro is shot in the front drivers side and the nearest person i can consult about fixing it is over an hour away. And my mini isn't registered yet, so i was thinking of getting the spanners out and buying a conversion kit, you can see where my thinking is going I'm sure. As to the mambas my wife has decided to hang on to them until the mini meet at sunshine coast later in the year and make a decision then :roll:

I fixed up my hydro in Oct last year (one bag had seized solid) and it is schweet! My mini has a more comfortable ride than my missus' Lancer. I'd say that the person you were talking to doesn't want the trouble of finding and dealing with 2nd hand bags etc.

If restoring a car from the ground up, I would choose hydro every time. I just wish someone would re manufacture hydrolastic bags! I only have 6 spares sitting in the garage to last me! :P

Hey Dan

If you are ok with the spanners you would be able to change the bag yourself. The problems you may encounter are locating a bag (although this shouldn't be as hard as I make it sound :D ) and getting it pumped up.
Presuming you find a bag and fit it then you just have the pump up to do. A car with "flat" hydro can be driven, albeit slowly which may not be suitable for a normal 1 hour trip. I see you having 2 options then, take the car to the pump up person on a trailer or bring the pump up person to the car.

Either way, I am 100% sure you would be happier with hydro than dry if you were to go to the trouble.

thanks everyone, Is it hard to make your own pump out of a grease gun, does anyone have instructions for doing that. I am already looking forward to sunny coast :D
