Hey guys as most of you probably have been through this before, I am STILL doing a full baremetal respray on my mini (which so far mind you has consisted of a shite load of cutting and welding due to the poor resto done before) the hole where my spare tyre goes has alot of pin holes in it which will require alot of bending an shaping metal to replace. As I'm in the staff of saving for a Euro trip for July/Aug money is tight so buying a complete new boot panel is outta the question. Any ideas of what I can do? Finding another mini was hard enough let alone trying to find one I could cut up for a part. Cheers Pete[/img]

Hi Pete :)

Where abouts are the pin holes?

How thick is the remaining panel?

Are all pin holes located in the very bottom of the panel where it is flat, or are some on the return where it does bend up?

Have you got a photo?

If most of the panel is still thick(ish) then I often just lead wipe them in or solder even. But this is only good where there is still enough material left in the panel to remain strong. The other option, is to fill them with filler rod (if you can weld,,, which I assume you can).

If you have some good photo's we'll be able to offer more advice.

Cheers

Hi yeah it's alot if pin holes and some slightly larger. Also the metal is really thin around them so welding will just blow out. It right around the bend in the metal.
