ok so i take the van up to the servo last night to fill the tank & it`s missing,back firing & spluttering through the rev range,fine at idle. just want to know what i should be looking at today,want to get it right before i go for the blue slip. all advice greatly appreciated. cheers jayson |

Check the timing and make sure that the distributor is not loose and able to turn. Also check that the fuel filter is not full of gunk especially as this is a recent restoration. Mike |

thanks for all the replies. will check plugs. which way do i turn the mixture nut to richen it ? i set the static timing at 10' btdc is this too much ? fuel filter looks ok fueling up made no difference cheers jayson |

Something like, "Ok, my head's under the car, feet out the front, I'm looking at the nut, to lean it off I put the spanner on the nut so that it's pointing towards the driver's side and spin it towards the engine..." ![]() ![]() So, to enrich the mix, spanner on the nut pointing to the passenger side and pull towards the engine. ![]() |

no wasn`t raining when i was driving. made the mixture richer,just made it worse moved dissy either way,no improvement thinking maybe wrong needle in carby |
