How are you all going ? I have a problem with a Mk 2 S. Well, maybe not a problem but just an annoyance. When I top the radiator up with water and go for a short drive and stop, water comes out of the overflow pipe. It will do this until the radiator goes down maybe 1 to 1 and half inches from the top and then it is fine and the level stays there. The car was running an 82 degree thermo but changed to a 74. The radiator cap is the standard 13 lb and is new. Any ideas please ? Thanks |

This is normal. Water expands when heated and has to go somewhere...> =out the pipe. Later radiators (eg Clubby) have a level indicator mark inside. Surprise surprise, it's about 1/2 way down the tank.. ![]() If you `could' (don't try this!) see inside the tank when it's hot, you would find it is full. The air gets sucked back in as it cools, this is normal too. |

Everything is normal. The water level is supposed to be about an inch low, the handbook for the Mk1 shows a water level indicator in the radiator and I think the Mk2 would have been the same. ![]() |
