Hey there, wondering if there is anyone here who ran in group n @ wakfield at Oz 50? Would like to know what diff set up and ratio you ran? Also speed and rpm at end of the straight? Need to do something about changing my 3.1 to improve acceleration. Thanks! |

I didn't run this time but have run the 1310 there with a 3.44, and the 1360 with the 3.647 in it. I'd say a 3.9 would be nice on this track, but they are rare over here. A 3.765 would be OK. Bit noisy for freeway cruising though. |

Our car had a 4.1 left in it from the previous race meeting at Winton, Phil saw 8000 on the front straight. ![]() |

Ha, I was doing about 140 kph @ 4000 rpm! I would need another 3 km to wind that thing out! I need to change it to get the speed up, or build another motor and stick it in a race car. It is nice on the road though! |

I was pulling around 6000 in 4th with the 1310, when it had a VP3 cam and 1.5 rockers in it. |

I was running my Grp Nb Cooper S in the Regularity events as I have a CAMS National Rally licence rather than a circuit equivilent, but for interest's sake the car's fastest lap was a 1:16.2 which would have placed it mid-fieldish in the Grp N races. The car runs a BMC 3-syncro, 4-speed, straight cut, close ratio gearbox. Standard Cooper S primary, idler and input shaft gears, A 3.7 final drive and Quaife LSD. No idea of speed, but 4th gear was picked up about 50 metres before the start/finish line after holding third to 7500rpm. I would guess that it was pulling somewhere between 6500 & 6800 in 4th before braking and going back to third for Turn 1. The 3.7 seemed pretty well suited to the track. ![]() Thanks for the photo Shane. |

This is great! Gives me more insight into what people are using. I guess you really need to utilize the rpm potential of the motor at any given track. |

... I was using 3.7 and a Quaife diff .... and 4 - 3.5 - 3 cylinders .. so struggling for revs... GPS data shows around 145-150 kph in the past used a 3.9 - and feel that suits slightly better - but with an ailing car with no ooomph ... hard to tell.... will try the 3.7 again in the future... ( but also have an evolution diff waiting to go in as well ) ... and I was one the slowest on the day ![]() (3.7 definietly nicer at Eastern Creek that the 3.9 ) |

I was running a 3.7 and just couldn't get out of the corners as fast as the others, would make some gains at the end of the straights when it wound up but I would think 3.9 or 4.1 would be best suited........ However, Phillip Island is next weekend and I dont need to do a diff change ! |

I was running a 3.7 which was OK with the amount of torque my engine produces, but I was told the front guys were running a 4.2! They were definately running different to the 3.7 as I was faster in some places but alot slower in others. I was having to change to 2nd at the end of the front straight and seeing around 7600 on the down change then having to rev to 8000 odd to get any push out of the corner. I think with a lower diff I could have got through there in third gear which would have been a nicer run. My best time was a low 14 but my front ride height was about 1 inch too high due to new cones. (check the photos car #38). I should have been in the 13s if I didn't have the horrendous understeer that wore out my front tyres. HRS |
