Contemplating other options other than restoring hydro setup???

Can anyone please comment on the below options, in particular coil springs for low and original ride heights.
Has anyone got pics of coil spring setup ride heights?

Option 1
Mini SPAX coil over shocker setup (LOWERED)

Option 2
Mini SPAX coil over shocker setup (standard height)

Option 3
Mini Suspension upgrade kit, Convert your Hydro to Rubber (full kit)- Now with KYB shocks

Option 4
Rebuild my hydro ride (I would need to make new pipes and possibly buy new second hand displacer, plus get it filled by someone when ready) Have been hearing stories of displacer bags blowing out lately?

Experiences and knowledge appreciated :)

1. It's usually the hoses that blow, not the bags.
This is mostly caused by water getting down through the crossmember then inside the displacer cavity, and rusting the crimp sleeve away.
2. The hoses can be replaced once a 1/8BSP thread has been cut onto the barb fitting inside, and an adaptor nipple screwed on there.
3. If you get stuck I have a few spare bags (the common ones though, not Cooper S/GT).

We had a Cooper S replica (Barney) that the builder converted to dry with hi-los. Even with Koni shocks all round I was still unhappy with the ride and handling. A 2000km trip round Tassie confirmed my feelings.
I wish he's left it as hydro..
my 2c....

Hydro is great. The Mini shops should invest in hydro kits instead of the silly coil spring kits.

If it is that low can you still call it suspension?

I don't care how it looks. I am not a vain wally that wants to look cool. (how can anyone look cool in a 40 year old car with no suspension?)
I want a smooth ride just like it was made with.

Dave rosenthal is making coil over kits using much cheaper and more commonly avaliable parts. Id ask him for advice as another option.

 I know.......I've seen you!

I was considering doing away with the hydro on my deluxe.
So all in all, hydro is the setup to keep for a daily?

My hydro wasaMatic can sail over `wombat crossings' at 70kmh if needed. Nope, the Maniflow LCB doesn't hit either.Try that in a rubber cone suspended Mini... :P
BTW the car is fairly low, front arches are 2-3 fingers above the 10" tyres.

Thanks for the feedback all,

Good to know someone has some bags Doc if I get in trouble, cheers

Does anyone have hydro lines as the back end of mine are fairly rusted and I should really put new ones on if I am going to stick with my origanal plans of using the hydro. :?:

Anyone hear tried or been in car with coil shocks setup?

I will contact Dave R, thanks

I have a rough cobble stone lane down the back of my place, onto which my garage opens. I've had my hydro K into third gear going down there, and it handles it easily. Not so my rubber-cone suspended van...

John Smidt at Mini King gets new hydro lines made.

I think it was covered once before, but can you replace the lines with a set of "enzed" hi pressure rubber lines? (aka rubber hydraulic lines)

You can do it but they need to be good ones.

Finding someone that will do it is the hard bit. When you try to explain hydro suspension to a hydraulic place they don't understand!

Pirtek didn't believe me when I tried to get the right stuff for my hydro pump. They didn't think that the plastic hose had to handle 400 psi.
