Found this today: http://www.specialist-components.co.uk/ ... d_products What are peoples opinions? Pros/Cons? Difficulty in setting up? Is it worth it? Anybody here running a system like this? Cheers, Dennis |

I recently drove a Mini fitted with the Wolf after-market System. It was sensational. These systems are usually not hard to set up, just takes a fair bit of time and at times might appear teadius - that is if you want to get the best from it. I think to get the absolute best from any of these systems a decent embedded ignition system is also needed (which I see this set up has) but none I've seen to date include a knock sensor, which while not 100% necessary is a nice addition - it could save your engine if you get some fuel which is less than it should be. |

Is anyone using the CANEMS system? Its purpose designed for siamesed ports too and intended for use with comparatively cheaply available parts. Tim |

Yeah this system was discussed over at the turbominis forum in the UK. My understanding was that one of the turbomini guys and the Specialist Components guy had a right old barney over who's system was better. It ended with the SC guy refusing to go on the turbominis forum. ![]() I like this SC system, reason is it functionally similar to mine http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=67644&highlight=jb007s ![]() I know they are using a nice shiny throttle body, I'm just using my HIF44 with an adapter for a fuel injector. I noticed that they have a lead going to the mechanical fuel pump spot on the back of the block... maybe this is to allow for timing of exactly when the fuel is injected (cam timing)? Mine also injects upstream of the butterfly instead of downstream. I think it would be an excellent turnkey solution and if it's like mine, makes for a very torquey and flexible motor. Would I buy it? No, because I built mine for less than that and I liked the challenge of doing it myself. ![]() |

I'm looking into building a knock sensor that can be interfaced with ECU's such as MegaSquirt. My EFI'd Mini will be the test bed. I'm also looking at a return less fuel system controller, this means that people don't have to have a fuel pressure regulator or a fuel return line just this controller that controls the fuel pump by PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) and a fuel pressure sensor mounted in the fuel line. Note: If anyone has a Bosch knock sensor that wishes to contribute to a poor unemployed bums, (me!) project, I would be most appreciative. It' interesting that there seems to be more people inquiring about FI for there classics. ![]() |

Will be fascinated to see how you go with the knock sensor. Everything I have read on forums over the years said that the A series was too loud for a knock sensor, they got too many false positives and it was impossible to set. Would be great if you could achieve it. |

Would be great if you could achieve it. I have a couple of recordings of A series engines from the internet. What I'd like is to get a knock sensor attached to mine. I'm looking at two completely different solution, one using a dedicated knock sensor IC talking to a Micro-controller, the other a Micro-controller doing a FFT (yes micros are fast enough nowadays) and interfacing to the outside world. Dave, is there any decent and cheap wreckers over this way? Jim |

They can be used as is, but I put a filter in circuit to tune them to the 'knock' and blot out most other noises. |

I guess they (GM) would be similar to the Bosch ones... maybe the wreckers might have some euro cars with Bosch sensors. ![]() |

I've used pick a part in Campellfield before and they were pretty reasonable, got an EDIS module, leads and coil for ~$30 (I also got 2 suitable replacement alternators from a Daihatsu and a Swift for I think ~$25 to $30 each). Not sure if they had any suitable Commondoors there though? What year do you use GT mowog? They have a website listing vehicles in the lot (at both sites): http://www.pick-a-part.com.au/parts_recovery.php There could well be somewhere closer for you though. David |
