Ran out of fuel in the driveway today, so went and got some more, refilled tank and car runs again.

Unfortunately for me things aren't that simple. The fuel pump seems to be running under higher load based on the noise its making (high frequency buzzing that is very uncomfortable to be near) and the throttle body sounded like a cow 'moo' noise.

I let the car sit for a few hours and tried again. throttle body sounds okay again (I suspect the pressure regulator was the culprit there), but the pump still sounds sick.

Turning on any electrical devices in the car (like headlights) changes the way the pump sounds.

Having run dry for a short time, is it likely that I've damaged the pump or anything else in the system?

Thanks.
:D

I know with another car I had, running it low (out) destroyed the pump be cause of the debris that it sucked through.

Can't rule that out entirely, though there is a strainer before the pump (actual filter is after pump, but wouldn't do anything ofcourse if the strainer did) and I did clean the tank as best I could before it went in the car a few months ago.

no idea on the pump you have but some have a filter on them on the inlet or out let which could be blocked from the crap from the tank.
Fuel Filter and also Jet at the SU
