Post subject: | English Import 63 Panel Van |
We have just picked this Car Up (yes we know it will need a lot of work) it has 63 on the wiper motor. It also has the English type slot drain holes. Is this car rare or unusual? Would like to know what anyone thinks?? ![]() |

I reckon both rare AND unusual... unusual that it's in Australia, and rare, because if it was in UK, it'd have rusted into dust by now |

i have no idea if it's rare or not, but I think the toe in on the rear wheels has shredded your tyres!! |

It's a shame the grill has been cut out. A new replacment wont be hard to find at least. |

I managed to get a fiberglass "Commercial" style grill from Mini Imports some time ago. Maybee they can help you if you have no luck. |

There was a front panel hanging up at Northern Mini Parts in Melbourne but it's been 3 or 4 years since I've been there. I also spotted one of those fibreglass grills at The Mini King in Sydney a couple of weeks ago but it may belong to one of Johns little projects. If you need any photos of the integrated style grill let me know. And if anyone else knows of another English van around with it's grill intact please let me know. |

Thanks for your comment, lol Thought I would just let you know that the rear sub frame has been fixed, so no more toe on the rear wheel!! ![]() |

It would be stupid if someone cut a grill out these days just for better excess. (Outside the UK that is) Mind you, it is a pain in the ring to work on, the spi gear and air con in my van doesn't really help the situation either. ![]() |

Im going to guess that thats an NZ built van (CKD) - does it have a rear seat made of ply, and a spare tyre well in the back, also with a ply cover? I have a van with the same windows, and have seen a few in NZ, I blieve it was some sort of estate conversion. have a look at the wiring loom, somtimes they have a sticker that identifies the loom as NZ made. good luck - looks like a solid start oh, and i believe haradan?? panels in the UK stocks the steel grille, They are definatly available new. That would be a "wooden load floor van" a kind of hybrid between a van and an estate, built for some export markets to get around purchase taxes. They are pretty unusual, even the poms don't seem to know about them. I've only ever seen one - in NZ. I didn't know they were built there. Tim |
