For all you members that were interested in maybe showing your mini you could do this at Showoff www.showoff.com.au

This is a show which is normally held at the Melbourne Showgrounds but due to re development it has moved this year to the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, Southbank (Jeff's Shed).

It has categories for our types of car and also you could attend as a club display.

It is cheaper if 10 or more enter as a club display.

You would need to organise fairly soon as the entry amount does go up the later you leave it.

Are there any people interested in this?

If you wanted to display representing the VMCI you would have to contact the committee with your proposal. You would need someone to look into the details of the show and try and get the 10 minis or more to attend then give all the details of what you want to do to the committee.

As long as you give them all the info they are usually pretty good with this sort of stuff.

The first show mutant attended was Autoexpo. Similar show to this one.

They don't run anymore though. But they used to have club displays and excepted old school cars and categories to suit.

We had three cars on show from memory and we won Best Club Display. Took along the club banner, gave out some info on the club and it was a great weekend.

People interested in showing would need to be aware of the time involved in doing this sort of thing and be committed. It costs about $100 per car to enter if you do so with 10 or more cars as a club otherwise it's dearer.

Do we have anybody out there who wants to organise this?

Due to other committments I will not be able to organise a display for this event.

I am able to help someone if they decide to do the leg work and pass on any advice I can but I don't want to be responsible for the actual arrangements.

I have just started a new job and along with everything else in my life I can't really undertake the organisation of another event.

If there is someome who is happy to spend some time organising I'll help out.

Sorry.

Unfortunately entry fees aren't negotiable.

That's what I'm not liking. If there aren't 10 or more people interested, I won't bother with it. It'll just be a hassle for me (and most people) to leave the car there for the weekend (if it's that kind of show), get home late, leave early, etc.
Besides, my car hardly belongs at one of these events, it's almost another version of autosalon. Considering my car is 70% standard, it'll look out of place without other minis around for a display.

Well I guess that means we don't have an organiser then.

By the sounds of it, it's not completely the entry fee money, it's the dedication to spend the whole weekend there, organise the display and clean the cars!
